Studio Judy is a small screenprinting studio based in Kansas City.
As the owner of Studio Judy, Jackie Niekamp is interested in making screenprinting accessible to those who do not have the space or financial means to get set up in their homes or studios.
Growing up in Kansas City, Jackie fell in love with visiting Hammerpress as a teenager and exploring printmaking as a medium. In 2006, she moved to Chicago, where she graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago with an emphasis in Printmaking and Fibers. While in Chicago, she worked in various printshops handling production printing and designing for apparel, gig posters, and fine art prints. Jackie became a printmaking and sewing teacher at Marwen, a non-profit arts program for Chicago youth, before moving to Oakland, California for a few years. With a 6-arm silkscreen press set up in her dining room in Oakland, Jackie did small-run print jobs for small businesses in the Bay Area.
After moving back to Kansas City, Jackie has spent the past eight years teaching screenprinting and other visual art classes for Kansas City Young Audiences, Imagine That!, Print League KC and The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
With over 12 years experience doing production and fine art printing, Studio Judy has got you covered!
